Hannah Burke is top English player at European championship

International Hannah Burke was the top England player at the European ladies’ championship at Kuneticka Hora in the Czech Republic.

Hannah (Mid-Herts) finished the 72-hole event tied eighth on one-under par. Scores rose in the final round when players had to contend with rain and low temperatures, after three days of heat and sun.

Hannah, the Irish open strokeplay champion, signed off with a three-over 75, following earlier rounds of 72, 68, 72.

Curtis Cup player Hannah Barwood (Knowle) tied 21st on two-over with rounds of 73, 72, 71, 74. Two shots further back was her Gloucestershire colleague and fellow international Charlotte Ellis (Minchinhampton) who shot 75, 70, 72, 77.

They were followed by English champion Hayley Davis (Ferndown) on 75, 72, 71, 77; and Curtis Cup player Rachel Jennings (Izaak Walton)  74, 73, 69, 80.



England players score low in European championship

All five England internationals shot par or better in the third round of the European ladies’ championship at Kuneticka Hora in the Czech Republic.

Hertfordshire’s Hannah Burke continues to lead the way on four-under par after rounds of  72, 68, 72. She played steadily today, with one birdie, one bogey and 16 pars and shares ninth place, five shots behind the leader, Sophia Popov of Germany.

Charlotte Ellis (Minchinhampton) moved up the leaderboard with a three-under 69 which included birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th and a bogey on the last. Charlotte is two-under for the tournament (75, 70, 69).

Rachel Jennings (Izaak Walton) also scored 69, with five birdies in her round, and is level par (74, 73, 69). She’s joined in a share of 25th place by her fellow Curtis Cup player, Hannah Barwood (Knowle) who birdied the last for a one-under par round today (73 72 71).

English champion Hayley Davis (Ferndown) had three birdies in her last five holes and came in with a one-under par 71. She is two-over for the tournament (75 72 71).

All five players comfortably made the 54-hole cut, which fell at five-over par.


Hannah Burke challenges in European championship

England international Hannah Burke is four shots off the lead after shooting an excellent four-under 68 in the second round of the European ladies’ championship at Kuneticka Hora in the Czech Republic.

Hannah, from Mid-Herts, opened with a level par round of 72 and her 68 lifted her from 25th to sixth on the leaderboard. She is four shots behind the leader, Marta Silva of Spain.

Hannah, who is the Irish open strokeplay champion, had six birdies and an eagle in her round, with two bogeys and one double, on the 17th. She was two-under par on both nines.

All the England players improved their standing in the second round. Charlotte Ellis (Minchinhampton) moved from 64th to a share of 28th place when she added a two-under 70 to her opening 75. She is tied, among others, with Hannah Barwood (Knowle) who has played steadily for scores of 73, 72. English champion Hayley Davis (Ferndown) scored 75, 72 and is in a group on 43rd place, which also includes Rachel Jennings (Izaak Walton) 74 73.
