Alex Peters wins Whittington Trophy

England girl international Alex Peters made a fine start to her season when she scored a four-shot win in the Whittington Ladies’ Trophy.
Alex took the trophy with scores of 73, 72 in difficult, windy conditions. The 16-year-old was in a five-way tie at the half-way stage of the competition, at Whittington Heath in Staffordshire, but then powered away from the field.
“The competition was wide open after the morning round and after I shot 72 in the afternoon I still wasn’t sure it would be enough. But the conditions didn’t really help anyone to shoot a low score,” she said.
“I hit the ball solid all day - even in all that wind - but I struggled a little on the greens. It’s nice to get the season off to a good start.”
